We had our last training day together on Wed 26th June. Some great pics from Lieven. A bit of a difference from January… Enjoy….
But before that, a movie…. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/johnboykamp

A special thanks to the “Potteries Paddlers” who provided us with their route plan a number of months ago. This has formed the basis of our route plan. Thanks for your help and perhaps see you on the water soon.
A HUGE thanks to everyone for their donations so far, there are more to come…

For fun we will be using “Real Time GPS Tracker” on the kayak for the entire race. This free Android software allows us to overlay a KML file on the live tracker map but the KML file needs to be on the internet. So in this post is that KML file with a JPEG suffix as WordPress only allows certain types of files to be uploaded. And it works a treat!
Track us at:
http://www.greenalp.com/RealtimeTracker/index.php?viewuser=jollypaddlers
KML file but with a .jpeg suffix to fool WordPress. i.e. No image will show (this is expected).
There are 4 days left before race day. Gulp! Our start time has been allocated earlier than we anticipated but in hind sight this is a good thing – no waiting about – simply get up and it is all go.
Jolly Paddlers start time is now 8:15am on Saturday 29th June 2013 from the Miners Arms in Poynton. There are 13 other crews (making a total of 14 crews). 5 K1 teams and 9 K2 teams. Let the fun begin!
Prize giving is now at 11:00am on Sunday (it has been brought forward from 1:00pm).
A special thanks to everyone from Citation Ltd (in particular Janet Hulme) who collected money on our behalf during their “Dress Down” day on 31st May 2013. The Jolly Paddlers thank you for helping raise money for East Cheshire Hospice.
Well done for raising this much! Good effort.
Since supporters are starting to ask about where we will be on race day I decided to stitch together four photos of our map to hopefully make a highly zoom-able image. Not the best stitching software (or photos) but you can indeed zoom in to see what is going on and when.
Clicking on the below image will give you an idea of the route. There are rough times in the center of the map (which are times we are aiming for). BUT stay tuned as we may have a live tracking solution on the kayaks for real time positioning. We are in the process of testing our solution before announcing it to everyone.
